After all of the pony art I've been doing I decided to draw something from my real cartoon obsession. Bunnie and Sally from Sonic the Hedgehog (Saturday Morning version!). For those of you that don't know, it was a cartoon that came out in the early 90's when I was about 12 years old. It is a dark, dystopian story which inspired me and influenced the subjects I write to this day.

I decided to keep it SATam style (well, as close as I felt like getting) and ignore the comic's existence or any other fandom junk.

The story of the image is simple. Princess Sally and Bunnie Rabbot are helping rebuild another mobian's home despite the war.

Watercolor on 12"x15" paper.

I miss this old show, the characterization was great, the interactions never felt forced, and the story really made you feel the kind of struggle they had to go through. and aside from one cameo in a game these characters got left behind in favor for boring or annoying characters that were devoid of characterization.

on the topic of the pic, bunnies robotic arm kind of looks a little funny to me, but thats only because i cant remember how many fingers were on that hand.

She only had three fingers in the show. I had to look at several episodes to make sure this was correct. I had the show playing in the background the entire time I painted this. It really has held up very well and is very re-watchable.

Truly that show was one of the good ones, shame it ended only after 26 episodes, on the biggest cliffhanger I have ever seen

It's a shame SatAM never continued beyond its cliffhanger ending. But in some ways, it could be seen as a blessing. Ongoing series tend to outwear their welcome and loose their original creative juices (i.e. The Simpsons, Dragon Ball, ect.). Had SatAM continued, it would've ended up being the same as the comics.

Out of curiosity, what are your feelings toward other Sonic continuities? They might not be perfect to everyone, but each has their share of positive/negative elements.

I guess I enjoyed the Archie comic when I was a kid, but I could never get into it past issue 75 or so. I've tried to pick up current issues but I think I'm just too old to care anymore. I never had a new sega system beyond the genesis so I never got to enjoy the later characters so Sonic X was just kind of weird. I did like the really old anime since it reminded me of the old games a lot.

Never watched Sonic Underground and Adventures of Sonic was only appealing to me when I was 11 years old. XD

I'm glad you like this picture. XD
It was a GOOD show. I watched it while painting this and was surprised with just how well the show held up.
